Mr. Story was a graduate of Cherry Hill East High School, and obtained his BS and MS from Mansfield University, where he was a brother in Phi Mu Alpha. He was a music educator for 40 years in the Prattsburgh CSD (NY), Canandaigua SD (NY), and at the Alternative School for Math and Science in Corning, NY. He impacted thousands of students in his tenure. Additionally, he had been a marching band and concert band composer/arranger for Belwin Publications since 1993, under the pen name of Brian Scott. He had choral compositions published by Colla Voce under his name. He enjoyed writing band and choral commissions and devoted the last three years to a composition he was very passionate about, “FREDERICK, Cantata on the Life of Frederick Douglass.”
Brian loved singing and was a past member of Madrigalia and Music Spei (Rochester, NY) and a current member of the Worcester Chorus and Trinity Lutheran Choir (Worcester, MA). He was very committed to giving his time and talents to various community organizations including the Hochstein School of Music (Rochester, NY), the First Congregational Church of Paxton (MA), and the initiator of the Scholastic Arts Spotlight (Rochester, NY).
He loved to cook, do woodworking, drive his TR6, and he was always fixing something. He was an Eagle Scout who remained an active scout volunteer as an adult.
More than anything, he loved his family and especially playing outside with his grandsons and listening to them read. He was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.
