FITCHBURG – Josephine (Bonvento) Carbone, 86, of Saw Mill Pond Road, formerly of Ft. Pierce, Florida and Bridgeport, Connecticut, died on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 in The Highlands Nursing Home, Fitchburg.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Ralph Joseph Carbone; two sons, Richard Carbone and his wife Judith of Sterling and Michael Carbone of Barrington, New Hampshire; four grandchildren, Cameron, Carli, Travis and Benjamin Carbone; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, John Bonvento and a sister, Angelina (Bonvento) Satmaria. She was born in Bridgeport, CT the daughter of Vincent and Mary (Yurato) Bonvento and had lived in Fitchburg for the last 10 years.
During WWII she worked as a riveter for Sikorsky Aircraft Company in Bridgeport, CT, while her future husband, Ralph, was serving in the U.S. Navy. She was a fantastic cook, a deeply devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved and cherished spending time with her grandchildren.
The Carbone family cordially invites relatives and friends to visit with the family and share remembrances of Josephine, from 12 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 30th in the home of Richard and Judith Carbone. Burial will be private. Donations can be made to the Arthritis Foundation (

) in lieu of sending flowers. Miles-Sterling Funeral Home and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling is assisting the family with arrangements.
