Beverly J. Vogel

February 17, 1947 — July 24, 2013

HOLDEN – Beverly J. Vogel, 66, of Fireside Lane, died peacefully at home under the loving care of her family and the compassionate staff of the VNA Hospice of Worcester on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Worcester and raised in West Boylston, Beverly was the daughter of Frank and Beatrice (Pearson) Kimball, and lived 33 years in Holden.



Beverly graduated from West Boylston High School in 1965 and received her Bachelor’s degree from Worcester State College. She worked for Group Health & Benefit Administrators in Worcester for many years, retiring in 2008. Beverly was an accomplished organist and played for several area churches in the towns of West Boylston, Hubbardston, Gardner, Holden and most recently Emanuel Lutheran Church in Worcester. She was a member of The First Congregational Church of West Boylston.



Beverly cherished family gatherings at their summer home in Wellfleet, boating with her husband in Cape Cod Bay and cross-country skiing in Jackson, New Hampshire. She loved spending time with her grandsons and baking cookies. She also enjoyed the companionship of her cat Princess. Beverly was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be remembered for her gentle and kind nature.



The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to Dr. Thomas Abrams at Dana Farber Institute and Dr. Martin Goodman at Tufts New England Medical Center for their compassion and care shown to Beverly and her entire family.



She leaves behind her beloved husband of 35 years, The Rev. George E. Vogel; a daughter, Wendy Liddy and her husband Paul of West Boylston; two sons, Craig Wheeler of Andover and Scott Wheeler of Worcester; a sister, Barbara Erickson of Tampa, Florida; and two grandsons, Andrew and Cameron.



Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A funeral service honoring Beverly’s life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 29, in The First Congregational Church of West Boylston. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to The First Congregational Church of West Boylston, 26 Central Street, West Boylston, MA 01583.
