HOLDEN - Beverly Ann (Blake) Armstrong, 81, of Jefferson, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 18, 2016 under the loving care of her family and the dedicated staff at the Holden Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Holden.
Born in Windsor, Vermont and raised in Worcester, Beverly was the daughter of Henry and Evelyn (Savary) Blake. She attended Worcester schools and later worked as a sales associate at the former Lerner’s Department Store. During this time, she met a wonderful young man, Ronald Armstrong of Jefferson and thus began their life journey of 57 years together. On April 18, 1959, they married at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Worcester and moved to Jefferson where they raised their two sons. Beverly was a proud stay at home mom and was a constant guiding presence in her sons' lives. She worked for many years as an office assistant at several local dental offices including Dr. John Thayer, Dr. Ralph McCracken, Jr. and Dr. Maurice Martel. Although fiercely private, Beverly was a warm and affectionate woman with a most kind presence and gentle nature. In her family's minds and hearts, Beverly’s passing will forever leave an emptiness.
Beverly will be lovingly missed by her husband of 57 years, Ronald V. Armstrong; her two sons, David A. Armstrong and his wife, Patricia of Holden and Ronald M. Armstrong and his wife, Lori of Dayville, CT; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Beverly was predeceased by her brother, James Blake and sister, Barbara Russo.
Beverly’s family would like to express their deep appreciation to the devoted nurses and staff at Holden Rehabilitation as well as Notre Dame Hospice, whose professional care and personal support made Beverly's last days a little easier.
A funeral Mass of Christian Burial honoring Beverly’s life will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 21, at St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Holden. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Wachusett Food Pantry, P.O. Box 62, Jefferson, MA 01522-0062.
