BOYLSTON - Beverly A. (Baldwin) Blomgren, 95 passed away peacefully on September 28, 2024, after an illness. Her loving husband Bertil C. A. Blomgren predeceased her in 1994.
She leaves her four children, Robert Blomgren and his wife Penny of Brimfield, Barry Blomgren and his wife Sally of Worcester, her daughter Melanie Lombardi and her husband Ken of Boylston, and Bruce Blomgren and wife Laura of Auburn. She is survived by her brother Warren Baldwin of Tunbridge, VT/Myrtle Beach, SC and her sister Judith (Baldwin) Plante of Mashpee, MA. She also is predeceased by her brothers Wayne and Dave Baldwin and her sister Betty Jean (Baldwin) Taft. She will also be missed by nieces, nephews, and many friends.
“Grammy Bev” was a grandmother to eight grandchildren Megan, Lauren, Amanda, Nick, Michael, Rose, Bryan, and Brianna. She was a proud great grandmother to Natalie, Violet, Ambrose, Peyton, Olivia, and Wyatt.
Bev was born in 1929, to Fred R. Baldwin and Florence C. (Gabrielson) Baldwin. She grew up in Millbury, MA and was educated in the Millbury Public Schools, alongside her life-long best friend Grace (Welch) Kirk who predeceased her. After graduating, she worked for State Mutual, but it wasn’t long before she met the love of her life, Bert; and they soon were married and started a family. While raising her family, she worked at the Greendale YMCA teaching cooking and knitting courses.
Bev was known by many as the “neighborhood mom” in Norton Village – there was always an open door. She spent most summers at her home in Dennisport, MA where she could be found on Corporation Beach with her crew sharing her famous cookies or playing cribbage with anyone who had the courage to take her on.
Bev was very devoted to her church, Zion Lutheran, she was a life-long member and served on numerous committees. Her knitting and crocheting skills were unparalleled, and she was thrilled to make use of her talents whether it be for the church fair or caps for the babies in the NICU at Memorial Hospital.
Beverly’s family would like to extend our sincere thanks to Elder Care Services: Mark and Cheryl, Peter and Mary, Pastor Gerber, Sonja, Terry, and Bob. We would also like to thank Florence and Musu for their compassion and kindness during this difficult time.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, October 3, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 am in Zion Lutheran Church, 41 Whitmarsh Ave., Worcester.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Beverly’s name can be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Parkinsons Foundation, or Worcester Animal Rescue League.
