WORCESTER - Betty J. (Pike) Hajko, 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 7, 2015 at the UMass Memorial Hospital, Worcester, following a period of declining health. She was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late George W. and Violet J. (Wyman) Pike.
Betty was a lifelong Worcester resident. She graduated from the former David Hale Fanning Girls Trade School, and then spent a few years working before marrying her husband, Frank. E. Hajko. Prior to his death in 1989, Betty and Frank spent 41 years together. She was a dedicated homemaker for Frank and their daughter, Ginny and she took a great deal of pride in providing a warm and loving home. She enjoyed gardening and maintaining their home, many forms of craft making and artistry, as well as visiting flea markets. Betty spent many years working for and displaying items at the Charlton Flea Market. She was a former member of All Saints Church in Worcester, where she participated in many church activities and clubs.
Betty leaves her beloved daughter, Virginia Belanger and her husband, Albert E. Perreault of North Brookfield; her grandson, Jeremiah M. Belanger and his wife, Meghan of North Brookfield; her great granddaughter, Tabor Belanger; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her two sisters, Shirley Renna and Beverly Brown. Betty’s family would like to thank all those who provided care to Betty over these past few years, especially her oncologist, Dr. Rava. Their loving care and support has eased her journey.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Betty’s family on Tuesday, August 11, from 10-11 a.m. at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A prayer service will then follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery, Worcester.
