WORCESTER – Betty Jean Clark, age 76, died peacefully on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at UMASS Memorial Medical Center – University Campus, after a period of declining health, surrounded by the loving presence of her family.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Betty was the daughter of Francis and Virginia (McRee) Clark. After graduating from Weymouth High School, Betty graduated UMass Amherst for Nursing School. She worked for many years in area hospitals as a Registered Nurse, eventually devoting her nursing skills to research.
Betty will be lovingly missed and remembered by her children, Jennifer Christainsen, Wendy Christainsen, and Kenneth Christainsen; her ex-husband David Christainsen; her cherished grandchildren Lucas, Ethan, and Julian; her sisters Nancy Anderson and her husband Ray Anderson, Susan Humberd and her husband Bill Humberd; as well as her niece and many nephews; she was predeceased by her brothers Edward and Robert Clark.
Betty was an avid quilter for 50 years and a member of many quilting guilds in the area. She loved to play hearts, do puzzles, was a big fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots, lighthouses, traveling, and doing activities with her loving grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather to honor Betty’s memory at a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 29th at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 70 Highland Street, Holden. Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home of Holden.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross or to the Worcester Animal Rescue League after her favorite cat Brady.
