Bertha (Sher) Jonas

Biography
WORCESTER – Bertha (Sher) Jonas, 87, of Worcester, died on Thursday, August 7, 2014, after a short illness.

She leaves her husband of 67 years, Bernard Jonas; a son, Frederick Jonas and his wife, Geri of California; two daughters, Vivian, wife of Elliot Honig of Worcester and Eileen, wife of Steve Schongold of Sharon; two sisters, Reva, wife of Sumner Weisman of Framingham and Faye Ripinsky of New York; 5 grandchildren, Brandon Asher Jonas, Michael Jonas, Avrom Honig, Joshua Honig and Alyse Schongold. She was predeceased by a brother, Milton Sher.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of Abraham and Molle Esther (Sandler) Sher. For years, she worked for Israel Bonds. She was Horace Mann at Commerce High School and worked at the Bank of America Operations Center for several years. She was a Past President of the Parents Teachers Association of the Yeshiva Achei Tmimim. She was a life member of Mizrachi and a member of the Jonas Family Circle.

FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 1 P.M. TODAY, FRIDAY, AUGUST 8, AT THE YESHIVA ACHEI TMIMIM, 22 NEWTON AVENUE, UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN. Burial will be in B’Nai Brith Cemetery.

Memorial Observance will be held through Thursday noon, August 14, at her residence.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
