WEST BOYLSTON – Bertel G. Lindberg, 89, of 76 Briarwood Circle, died Friday, October 29, 2004, in UMass Memorial Medical Center, Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 67 years, Inez H. (Nelson) Lindberg; two sisters, Svea Wicker of Fitchburg and Beatrice Waters of Northborough; several nieces and nephews. A sister, Elsa Swenson, and two brothers, Henry and Paul Lindberg, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Carl J. and Anna (Johnson) Lindberg, and lived in West Boylston for 85 years.
Mr. Lindberg worked as a Truer for Norton Company for 34 years, retiring in 1974. He previously worked as a Manager for Howard Johnson’s in West Boylston. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater and was awarded a Bronze Star. He was a member of the American Legion Post #204 in West Boylston. He was an avid Red Sox fan, Patriots fan and enjoyed playing cards and pool.
A graveside service for Mr. Lindberg will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 2, at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, 32 Church Street, West Boylston. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made to Briarwood Retirement Community, Residence Assistant Fund, 65 Briarwood Circle, Worcester, MA 01606. Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling, is directing arrangements.
