STERLING – Bernard "Bernie" A. McGrath, 65, of Pratts Junction Road, died at home on Sunday, March 29, 2009, after a battle with multiple myeloma.
His leaves his beloved wife of 20 years, Marypat S. (Sullivan) McGrath; three daughters, Emma Kate McGrath of Sterling, Sheila M. Jacobsen and her husband Richard of Norton and Kristen Pepe and her husband Michael of Watertown; his son, Michael S. McGrath and his wife Sandra of Pepperell; two brothers, Lawrence McGrath of Tampa, FL and William McGrath of Westford; a sister, Jeanne Rodwell of Westford; 8 grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Somerville, son of William E. and Gertrude (Marion) McGrath.
Bernie was a graduate of Tewksbury High School and Merrimack College. He was an office manager and controller at various car dealerships throughout New England, most recently at Long Subaru of Webster. He was a member of St. Richard of Chichester Church and the Greater Lowell Baseball Umpires Association. He was an avid fly fisherman, fly-tyer and a member of the New England Fly Tyers Association.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1st, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. The funeral for Bernie will be held on Thursday, April 2nd, from the funeral home with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge Street, Sterling. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Road (Rte. 62), Sterling.
