Bernice N. (Swanson) Giannotti

February 28, 1934 — September 4, 2014

Woburn/Rutland-Bernice N. (Swanson) Giannotti, 80, died peacefully at the home of her son in Rutland, MA on September 4, 2014.

Bernice was born in Minneapolis, MN, a daughter of the late Milton L. and Bernice (Jakubic) Swanson. Following her graduation from high school, Bernice moved to the Somerville area to be near her sister. While there, she met Edward Giannotti. They married and enjoyed over 59 years of marriage before Edward passed away in October of 2013. They lived in Somerville and then moved to Woburn where she raised her family. They remained there until her retirement as an office assistant at Carolina Freight Company, where she had worked for 20 years. At that time, Bernice and Ed decided to return to Bernice’s roots in Minnesota, where they lived for several years. They then relocated to Bradenton, FL for the next 15 years, and returned to Massachusetts about 2 ½ years ago. Bernice truly loved her family and friends. She was always able to put a smile on people’s faces, wherever she was. She enjoyed playing bingo, family card games and gardening.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bernice’s family on Saturday, September 13, from 9-11 a.m. at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A prayer service celebrating her life will then be held at 11 a.m. Burial plans are private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
