HOLDEN – Bernice L. (McGurl) Ladner, 89, of Holden passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2011 in Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Shrewsbury, after an illness. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Myles and Helen (LaPlante) McGurl, and lived in Holden since 1953.
Her husband of 34 years, Robert J. Ladner, died in 1980. She leaves three sons, R. Brian Ladner and his wife Carol of Hyannis Port, Ronald F. Ladner of Holden and Francis J. Ladner and his wife Ann of Bourne; three daughters, Denise M. Morano, Kathleen A. Ladner, Joan E. Mardin and her husband George, all of Holden; a sister, Helen Patriquin of Hyannis; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Two sisters, Jean Patriquin and Lorraine Hogan, predeceased her.
Bernice graduated from North High School in Worcester. She was a member of St. George’s Church and enjoyed reading, playing cards, knitting and spending summers at her home in Centerville.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 7, at St. George’s Church, 38 Brattle Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street, Worcester.
