Bernice M. (Ruby) Handy, 90, of Holden, peacefully passed away on November 3, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Worcester on May 13, 1934 the daughter of Ernest and Edith (Premo) Ruby.
Bernice had many careers throughout her life. Most notably she owned and operated Colonial Package Store for 30 years. Eventually she sold the business and began working at Fallon Clinic for the next 10 years. She also worked for her son, Steven, as an administrator and spent time as a care giver for several years. Bernice enjoyed playing cards and going to the casino. She loved to travel and would often visit Las Vegas with her friends or collect memories in various places throughout the world. Above all else, she adored her family; her children and grandchildren brought her the most joy. She will be truly missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.
Bernice leaves behind her daughter and best friend, Kim Handy of Rutland; her sons, Steven Handy and his wife Corinne of Rutland, and Mark Handy and his wife Darlene of Cape Cod; her grandchildren, Mitchell Handy and his fiancé Sara, Cameron Handy, Taylor (Handy) Farley and her husband Dustin, Dylan Handy, and Ryan Handy and his girlfriend Bella; and her great granddaughter Elliana Handy. She is predeceased by her sister Sheila Corbett and her longtime companion James Fell.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 18th from 4-7pm at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street in Holden. A graveside service will take place on Tuesday, November 19th at 10:00am in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend.
