Biography
WORCESTER - Bernard "Bucky" Noar, 81, of 7627 Northport Drive, Boynton Beach, FL, formerly of Worcester, died on Saturday, September 10, at Rose Monahan Hospice Residence.
Born and raised in Worcester, Bucky was the son of Abraham and Anne (Koogle) Noar He maintained a summer residence in Holden after he moved to Boynton Beach, FL many years ago.
Bucky graduated from Commerce High School in 1953 and went to work for his father at Noar’s Oil Company in Worcester. He spent the next 48 years working at his family's oil business serving as its president from 1970 until his retirement in 2011.
He was a member of Congregation Beth Israel and Congregation Shaarai Torah West both in Worcester. Bucky was a 50 year member of the YMCA. He was also a member of the Probus Club of Worcester, Jewish Healthcare Center and B'nai Brith. Bucky enjoyed playing tennis and fishing.
He leaves his beloved wife of 60 years, Judith I. (Wassersug) Noar; three daughters, Beth Woodward and her husband, Joseph of Holden, Sharon de Klerk and her husband, Hans of Spencer and Wendy O'Leary and her husband, Dennis of Spencer; a sister, Toby Richmond and her husband, Charles of Worcester; six grandchildren, Andrew and Kyle de Klerk, Lauren and Ryan O'Leary, and Lucas and Hayley Woodward. Besides his parents, Bucky is predeceased by a brother, Myron Noar and his sister Harriet Gruber.
FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT 1 P.M. ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER, 14TH IN CONGREGATION BETH ISRAEL, 15 JAMESBURY DRIVE, WORCESTER UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF THE MILES FUNERAL HOME IN HOLDEN. Burial in B'nai Brith Cemetery, Worcester.
Immediately following the interment, Memorial Observance will be held at the Seasons Clubhouse on Seasons Drive in Holden until 5:30 P.M. and later 7 to 9 P.M. at his residence, 1 Seasons Drive, Holden. Memorial Observance will continue at his residence, from 1 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 9 P.M. on Thursday, 1 to 4 P.M. on Friday, 8 to 10 P.M. on Saturday and 1 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 9 P.M. on Sunday. Minyan Services will be held at the residence at 7:30 P.M. on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.
Memorial contributions may be maybe to the Renovation Fund or the Endowment Fund of Beth Israel Synagogue, 15 Jamesbury Drive, Worcester 01609, or to the Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
