Biography
WORCESTER - Benjamin Fratkin, age 90, died on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Jewish Healthcare Center, Worcester.
His wife of 40 years, Nancy (Gurr) Fratkin, died in 1998. He leaves two sons, William Fratkin and his wife, Jill of Leominster and Daniel Fratkin and his loving companion, Joan MacNeill of Litchfield, NH; two daughters, Wendy Coutu and her fiancé, David O'Malley of Boylston and Ellen Davis of Mahwah, NJ; a sister, Sheila Malkin of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; 9 grandchildren and a great-grandson.
He was born in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, Canada, the son of Israel and Mary (Sucherov) Fratkin, and had lived in Needham, MA for 20 years, retiring to Randolph, VT for 20 years, moving to Worcester five years ago. He graduated from the University of Manitoba and was an electrical engineer serving as a communication specialist for many years. He served in the Canadian Air Force during World War II.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 4:30 PM ON MONDAY, MARCH 9, IN TEMPLE EMANUEL SINAI, 661 SALISBURY ST., WORCESTER UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN. A period of visitation will be held from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM prior to the funeral service. Burial will be Green Mount Cemetery in Montpelier, VT at 12 Noon on Tuesday, March 10.
