Biography
WORCESTER – Bella Serebryannik, 87, formerly of Belarus, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. Born and raised in Bobruisk, Belarus, Bella was the daughter of Morduch and Sarah (Abeleva) Godkin and lived the last 24 years in Worcester.
Her husband, Yevgeny Serebryannik died in Belarus in 1991. She leaves her daughter, Alla Demihovsky with her own husband Leo Demihovsky in Worcester, along with her other daughter, Diana Lapidus who remains with her husband Alik Lapidus in Haifa, Israel. She also leaves behind her two grandchildren, Alexander Demihovsky and Rita Lapidus; and her two brothers, Naum and Leonid Godkin.
Bella graduated from high school in Bobruisk and worked as an administrative assistant to the president of an agricultural firm. She came to America and became part of the Worcester community in 1992 and has been part of that community ever since. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, and working around her home.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, November 30, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Burial will follow at B’nai Brith Cemetery in Worcester. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Richard Perlman of Miles Funeral Home of Holden.
