WORCESTER – Karen Barbara (Singley) Cathcart, 62, of Acushnet Avenue, died on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 in her home after an illness.
She leaves her husband of 40 years, John D. Cathcart; a son, Dr. Andrew J. Cathcart and his wife Jestina of Oxnard, CA; two brothers, Rev. Martin C. Singley III of Loudon, TN and Stephen A. Singley of Worcester; a grandson, Stellan; and several nephews and nieces. She was born in Newton the daughter of Martin C. and Shirley V. (Johnson) Singley, Jr. and lived in Newton before moving to Worcester, where she lived most of her life.
Karen graduated from North High School and Becker College in Worcester. She attended Clark University and was the scheduling manager for the Catholic Charities of Worcester. Previously, she was the manager of the Central Mass Office Division of Conservation Services in Worcester and had worked as a medical secretary for area hospitals. She also was a secretary for the Department of Geography at Clark University and was a licensed Massachusetts real estate broker.
Karen was a happy, active homemaker, loved arts & crafts, enjoyed researching genealogy and in her earlier years she was involved with the theater.
Funeral services are private and under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will be in All Faith's Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to a charity of one's choice.
