GARDNER- Barbara J. (Ostroff) Rose, age 92, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 after a very long illness.
She leaves a daughter, Sharyn Rose and her wife Amy Rose of Somerville; a brother, Melvin Ostroff and his wife Katy of Leominster and two nieces; Cathi Cohen and Lisa Ostroff, wife of Read DeButts of the Washington, D.C. area.
She was born in Chelsea, the daughter of Benjamin and Fannie Pearl (Yutan) Ostroff and had lived most of her life in Gardner.
She graduated Clark University in Worcester and received a Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. For many years she was the director of a women’s counseling center at Mount Wachusett Community College.
She was a long time member of the former Congregation Ohavi Sholom in Gardner.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 11:00 AM, FRIDAY, JANUARY 3RD IN TEMPLE EMANUEL SINAI, 661 SALISBURY ST., WORCESTER UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN. Immediately following the interment service at Worcester Hebrew Cemetery in Auburn. A Memorial Observance Reception will be held at Temple Emanuel Sinai, 661 Salisbury Street, Worcester.
