Biography
HOLDEN – Barbara H. (McCabe) Leslie, 75, of Reservoir Street, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at UMass Memorial Healthcare, University Campus, Worcester, after an illness. She was born and raised in the Bronx, New York, the daughter of Joseph David and Mildred (Duchemin) McCabe. Barbara had lived in Worcester for 20 years and Rutland for 25 years before moving to Holden.
Barbara attended schools in New York City and worked for many years in the food and paper goods industries. She was a hardworking devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who attended selflessly to the needs of her husband and children. She will be sadly missed by her loving family.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Edmond P. Leslie; three daughters, Debra Ann Medina and her husband Rodney of Las Vegas, Nevada Rose Ann Berthiaume and her husband Gary of Rutland, and Gayle M. Leslie of Worcester; two sons, Gary E. Leslie of Worcester and Edmond D. Leslie of Holden; nine grandchildren, Sandra, Sharon, James, Cherie, Crystal, Jason, Theresa, David and Alyshia; fifteen great-grandchildren; and three nephews, Robert and Richard Brancasi of Florida and Barry Brancasi of New Jersey. She was predeceased by her sister, Mildred (McCabe) Brancasi.
The funeral service for Barbara will be private at the request of the family. Burial will take place at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Barbara’s name to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701; or to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden is assisting the family with arrangements.
