NORTH BROOKFIELD - Barbara A. (Carlson) MacIntosh, 63, passed away peacefully at home in the arms of her loving husband on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, after an illness. Born in Worcester on August 3, 1958, Barbara was the daughter of Gustaf A. and Alice K. (Jamieson) Carlson and spent the first 33 years of her life in Auburn before moving to North Brookfield in 1991.
She was a graduate of Auburn High School, class of 1976. She later graduated from Quinsigamond Community College with a degree in business administration and worked many years at Norton Company in Worcester.
Barbara's favorite pastime was knitting. Barbara coined the phrase "If I am sitting...I am knitting." She attended and participated in craft shows throughout New England including her favorite, "The Big E" in West Springfield. Barbara was also a member of several local knitting clubs including those that met at the Leicester Senior Center and East Brookfield Library.
First and Foremost, Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family. She looked forward to vacationing with them at their beach home in South Yarmouth. She will be remembered for her kind and gentle nature.
Barbara leaves her husband of 26 years, Thomas R. MacIntosh; her children, Corey R. MacIntosh of N. Brookfield, Amy E. MacIntosh-Ferguson and her husband, Matthew of Trumbull, CT, Andrew T. MacIntosh of Worcester; her brother Wayne Carlson and his wife, Jill of Worcester; her favorite people to knit for, her four grandchildren, Isabel, Alice, Margot and Cameron; and her nephew and niece, Gregory and Amanda.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Barbara's family from 3 to 5 pm on Saturday, August 21, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3 Speen St, Framingham, MA 01701.
