Holden - Barbara G. (Strong) Kerr, 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Friday, November 29, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. Born in Chelsea and raised in West Boylston, she was the daughter of the late William and Gladys (Simonds) Strong.
Barbara graduated from West Boylston High School and went on to further her education at Clark University where she earned a Bachelor of Art's degree in English. She was an avid reader and in her spare time she enjoyed tending to her beautiful gardens. Barbara looked forward to weekly outings to the movie theater and restaurants with friends, as well as spending time by the ocean, especially in Matunuck, Rhode Island. Barbara was an animal lover, and cherished her cats, Beatrice and Matilda. First and foremost, were her grandchildren. She would sit and tell them stories from her childhood, and those stories were often embellished with some extra details. Her face would light up when her family were together.
She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her daughter, Lindsay Doughty and her husband, Richard of Paxton; her son, Keith Kerr and his wife, Kinga of Mansfield; her brother, Dana Strong and his wife, Patricia of Prudence Island, RI; her sister, Patricia Pepi and her husband, Louis of West Boylston; her cherished grandchildren, William and Benjamin Doughty and Caleb, Keegan and Carter Kerr; her niece, Gretchen, nephew, Michael, and her great nephew, Samuel Pepi Ames; her cherished friends; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 6 in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Neady Cats, 215 Worcester Road, Sterling, MA 01564.
