Barbara G. Kane

March 20, 1940 — June 6, 2022

Worcester - Barbara G. Kane, age 82 of Boston, MA, passed away peacefully in her home on June 6, 2022. She was born March 20, 1940, to Eileen (Berman) and I. Edward Goodman. She is survived by her life partner, Dr. J. Myron "Mike" Rosen, as well as her sons, Steven N. Kane and Brian H. Kane, Steven's sons Samuel L. Kane and Jack E. Kane and life partner, Kiva C. Schuler, and Brian's son Jonah N. Kane and life partner Ann M. Fleischmann, as well as her brothers James M. Goodman and Donald E. Goodman, and sister Nora Finkelstein Snyder. Barbara is predeceased by her husband Louis A. Kane. She was married to Louis for 33 loving years before he passed in 1994.

Barbara graduated from Brookline High School, in Brookline, MA, then went on to Skidmore College and Simmons College to get her Bachelor's Degree, and later, to Clark University to get her Masters in Business Administration. She was a co-founder and partner in the modern art gallery, the LevinsonKane Gallery, in Boston, for many years, and also indulged her passion and love for artists and human creativity as an active personal collector. Even repeat visitors to her home would always pause and remark on her amazing collection of both fine and folk art, and unusual objects and finds. She was also active in philanthropy, including volunteer work for Planned Parenthood of Massachusetts, and a management role at the Worcester Council for Jewish Women Thrift Store.

With her late husband, Louis, and then life partner, Mike, Barbara was an indefatigable, fearless world traveler, making numerous trips to far flung destinations and visiting every continent, including Antarctica. She was also deeply devoted for many years to her local Woman's Group, where she cherished many lifelong, loving friendships. She was a habitual fan and attendee at galleries, museums, the theater and the Boston Symphony. Known for her distinctive personal style and easygoing but sharp wit and sense of humor, she was almost always described by friends and colleagues as "a character" - which she enjoyed.
