STERLING – Barbara J. Hamel, 48, of Redstone Hill Road, died Tuesday, August 1, 2006, in the Hospice Residence on Coe’s Pond, Worcester, after an illness.
She leaves her parents, Robert C. and Margrit H. (Frentzel) Hamel; three sisters, Carmen Luksha of Portland, Oregon, Sandra Dieringer of Fern Park, Florida, and Roberta Villamaire of Rifle, Colorado; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, cousins and her beloved Belgian Sheepdog, Bhaltair.
Barbara graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in 1976 and Becker College in 1978 earning her associates degree as a Veterinary Tech.
She worked in the Sample Dept. at Ecological Fibers of Lunenburg for seven years. She trained and showed Belgian Sheepdogs and was an avid participant of Champion Kennels in Sterling and It’s Show Tyme Handling Classes in Princeton.
The funeral service for Barbara will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Road (Rte. 62), Sterling. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 11, and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VNA Hospice Residence, Coe’s Pond, 10 Judith Road, Worcester, MA 01602.
