RUTLAND/WEST BOYLSTON– Barbara Louise (Evans) Minasian, 93, of Rutland, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Oakdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in West Boylston after an illness.
Her husband of 64 years, Minas “Marty” Minasian passed away in 2004. She leaves three daughters, Doris Phillips of Manchester, CT, Dawn Lussier and her husband Robert of Jefferson and Dale Hayden of Rutland; a son-in-law, Frank Hayden of Rutland; four grandchildren, Tina Greenfield and her husband Matthew, Jeremy Hayden, Jason Hayden and his wife Jodi and Shawn Lussier and his wife Sarah; five great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. A sister, Eleanor Barber, predeceased her.
Barbara was born in Leominster, the daughter of Leonard L. and Bertha (Phillips) Evans and graduated from Rutland High School. She was a dietary aid at the former Rutland Heights Hospital. She was a long time member of the First Congregational Church, the senior center, grange and the bowling league, all in Rutland. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years and started the Left Hand Sewing Club. Barbara was an accomplished artist who also enjoyed gardening, landscaping and loved going hunting and fishing with her husband.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hour from 12 to 1 p.m. followed by a service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A committal service will follow at Rural Cemetery, Main Street (Rte. 122A), Rutland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Rutland 4th of July Gift Account, 250 Main Street, Rutland, MA 01543.
