Barbara Elizabeth (Dickie) Filippone

Biography

WORCESTER - Barbara E. (Dickie) Filippone, 79, died peacefully on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus, Worcester.  She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Alvord and Belinda (March) Dickie.          She is survived by her daughter, Donna Shaughnessy and her husband, Kevin of Worcester; her brother, Thomas Dickie of North Carolina; her grandchildren, Michaela, Connor, Brittaney and Nicholas; her great granddaughters, Madeline and Isabelle; and her long time friend and companion, Joseph DeMauro.  Barbara was predeceased by her daughter Cheryl Filippone in 2005 as well as her brother, James Dickie.          Barbara graduated from Commerce High School with the class of 1955.  She had a passion for beauty and hairdressing and went on to own Barbara's Beauty Boutiques on Millbury Street and Cambridge Street in Worcester, retiring in 2005.  She enjoyed sunny days at the beach, shopping, the New England Patriots and the ocassional trip to Foxwoods.  Barbara will be remembered for her love of animals and will be especially missed by her cats, Jimmy and Patsy.  Above all she cherished her family and was overjoyed to be a great grandmother.          Funeral services will be private.  Memorial contributions may be made to MSPCA, Angell Donations, 350 South Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02130.  To share a memory or offer a condolence visit our "Guest Book."
