MARYVILLE, TN / WEST BOYSLTON – Barbara Jean (Amsden) Landry, 70, died peacefully in the comfort of her home in the care her step-daughter, Nancy, her grandson, Dylan and her family friend, Martha. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Edward A. and Eleanor L. (Houlihan) Amsden.
Barbara attended West Boylston High School, and furthered her education at David Hale Fanning Trade where she studied cosmetology. Barbara spent many years in the transportation and trucking industry. She worked as a driver for Wilson Bus Lines before moving to Florida. While in Florida, Barbara established her own trucking business in Ocala, which she operated for several years. When she relocated to Tennessee, Barbara drove for a local trucking company before retiring. She enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing and crocheting. Barbara was always willing to help anyone in need, and would do anything for her family and friends. She also had a great love for animals.
She leaves her three step-children, including Nancy A. Renaud of Maryville, TN, who truly has been a daughter to Barbara through her these past several years of difficult times and health challenges; her two sisters, Margaret C. Wells of Auburn and Nancy L. Caron of Lunenburg; her brother, James E. Amsden of Worcester; three nieces; two nephews; and three step-grandchildren. She also will be missed by her two cats, Sidewinder and Sassa and her dog, Tinymite, who were so loving and faithful to Barbara during her illness.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Barbara’s family on Monday, February 2, from 10-11 a.m. at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A funeral service will then be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m., followed by burial in Mount Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston.
