Stanley B. Lee

HOLDEN - Stanley B. Lee, Jr., 84, of Holden, died Friday, August 10, 2007 in UMass Memorial Healthcare, Worcester, after a brief illness.

Born in Littleton, New Hampshire, on July 19, 1923, he was the son of the late Stanley B. and Lexie (Shores) Lee. He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 63 years, Irene (Tenney) Lee of Holden; his daughter, Carol L. Naughton of Walpole; his son, Brent S. Lee and his wife Linda L. Lee of Holden; his sister, Virginia L. Miller of Littleton, NH; and several nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of the late Christopher J. Naughton. All will sorely miss him. He was a graduate of Littleton High School and the University of New Hampshire. Stan was a veteran of World War II having served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Medea.

Stan worked for Norton Company in Worcester for 39 years, retiring as Director of Taxation in 1984. Stan started at Norton Pike Company in Littleton, NH before being transferred to Norton Company in 1959. He was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church of Holden as well as a volunteer at the Corner Shop. Stan was a generous, kind and caring family man. He loved all sports. He was an avid golfer, shooting two hole-in-ones during the 1970s. A club champion in 1953 at Bethlehem Country Club in New Hampshire, he was later a member at Holden Hills Country Club and Westminster Country Club. He loved nature and was an avid reader.

A private graveside service to celebrate his life will be held at Glenwood Cemetery in Littleton, NH. There will be no calling hours. Donations in Stan’s memory may be made to Mass Audubon: Mass Audubon, 208 South Great Rd., Lincoln, MA 01773. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, is directing arrangements.
