HOLDEN – Richard A. Zeena, 76, of Holden, died peacefully after an illness on Friday, April 27, 2007, in the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence at Coes Pond, Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 44 years, Elizabeth A. (Lunney) Zeena; his son, Richard J. Zeena and his wife Erin of Princeton; a daughter, Beth A. Dowd and her husband Andrew of Holden; two brothers, Raymond Zeena of Ft. Myers, FL and Robert Zeena of Worcester; two sisters, Ruth Bernlitz of Worcester and Helen Faucher of Shrewsbury; four grandchildren, Libby and Grace Dowd and Sydney and Zoe Zeena; many nieces, nephews and their children. He was born in Worcester the son of Ralph and Alice (Orfalea) Zeena and lived 42 years in Holden.
Mr. Zeena graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester and worked 42 years for Wyman-Gordon Company in both the Worcester and Grafton locations, retiring in 1991. He enjoyed golfing, tailgating at Holy Cross College football games and was an avid Red Sox fan. Most of all, he loved spending time with his granddaughters.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 30th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. The funeral for Mr. Zeena will be held on Tuesday from the funeral home with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence, 10 Judith Road, Worcester, MA 01602.
