WORCESTER - Avrom Aaron “Remi” Mintz, 85, of Westborough died on November 6. A long life well lived.
He leaves his wife of 61 years Alisa (Berenstein) Mintz; three daughters, Naomi, wife of Dan Lowenthal of Larchmont, NY, Abby Mintz of New York City and Elizabeth Mintz-Walpert, wife of Allen Walpert of Brookline, MA; two sisters, Ellie Blank of New York City and Susan, wife of Robert Slott of Hyannis; a brother-in-law, Isaias Berenstein. He was the loving grandfather of Nathaniel, Jared and Anna Lowenthal and Allie and Harry Walpert and uncle to 14 nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his adoring parents Myer and Bessie (Rosenthal) Mintz and his sister Bernice, wife of Dan Singer.
He was born and raised in Worcester, and he graduated from Classical High School in 1950 and from MIT in 1954. He worked in real estate management, appraisal and development throughout his life. He also taught Real Estate Appraisal at Assumption College. In 1948, he traveled on one of the first boats to the newly-created state of Israel. Remi became a life-long explorer and enjoyed traveling the world with Alisa. He was a devoted fan of all New England sports teams (Go Sox!) and loved spending time on Cape Cod. Remi was a Life Master bridge player and teacher, an excellent cook, an avid golfer, and a New York Times Crossword puzzle enthusiast, but perhaps his greatest source of joy was spending time with Alisa, his children, grandchildren and family dog, Ollie.
