PRINCETON – Warren A. Smith, 90, formerly of Radford Road, died on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 in the Sterling Village, Sterling. His wife, Virginia A. (Montgomery) Smith, died in 1965.
He is survived by three daughters, Shiela J. Pakradooni of Reading, PA, Susan A. George of Princeton and Sharlene M. Richardson and her husband Freeman of Gorham, ME; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Two brothers, James and Horace Smith, and a sister, Sylvia Caisse, predeceased him.
Mr. Smith was born and raised in Sterling, son of Grover and Gertrude (Rugg) Smith, and has lived in Princeton for over 70 years. He was a graduate of Leominster High School and Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH. He worked as a lineman for 34 years for the Town of Princeton Municipal Light Department, retiring in 1982. For many years, he owned Bennett & Smith Real Estate in Princeton, drove a school bus for Princeton students, served as a commissioner of the Princeton Cemetery Department, and was a volunteer firefighter for the town. He was a former member of the First Congregational Church of Princeton.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 6th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Spring burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Princeton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Town of Princeton Fire Department, Ambulance Fund, 8 Town Hall Drive, Princeton, MA 01541.
