HOLDEN – Asenath Esther (Pratt) Murray, 92, of 34 Elmwood Avenue in the Jefferson section of Holden, died Sunday, May 28, 2006 in the Odd Fellows Home, Worcester.
Her husband of 39 years, Louis A. Murray, died in 1966. She leaves two sons, Robert L. and Peter G. Murray of Holden; three daughters, Claire E. Oliver of Leominster, Victoria M. Murray of Holden and Norma J. Welker of Rochester, NY; a brother, Frank Pratt of Northborough; a sister, Althea McGann of Rutland; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Her daughter, Fay L. Thibault, predeceased her. She was born in Wilton, Maine, daughter of George and Effie (Clement) Pratt, and was a graduate of the Maine Normal School.
Mrs. Murray was a Dietary Aide for Holden District Hospital, retiring in 1973. Many years ago she taught Latin in Maine. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Holden, the Holden Grange and the Friends of the Holden Council on Aging.
A graveside service for Mrs. Murray will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 2, at Grove Cemetery, 1290 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Abby Kelley Foster House, 52 High Street, Worcester, MA 01609. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, is directing arrangements.
