Biography
WORCESTER – Arthur Fertel, age 91, died peacefully in UMass Memorial Healthcare on Thursday, December 29, 2016. He leaves his wife of 67 years, Eleanor J. (Hartman) Fertel; two daughters, Marcy, wife of Fred Shuster and Holly Allen, both of Worcester; a sister, Alice Shulman of San Marino, CA and the late Arnold Fertel; and two grandchildren, Sam Shuster of Burlington, VT and Abby Shuster of New York City. He was born in Boston, son of Morris and Sonia (Kushner) Fertel, and had lived in Newton for 32 years before moving to Worcester in 2004. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II. He owned and operated a gasoline service station for many years. PRIVATE FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD ON FRIDAY IN SHARON MEMORIAL PARK UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN.Memorial Observance will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 31, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 1, at the residence of Marcy and Fred Shuster, 2 Rollingwood Drive, Worcester.
