Arthur F. Andrews

December 15, 1947 — April 11, 2022

TOWNSEND/STERLING – Arthur F. Andrews, age 74, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 11, 2022. Born in Lowell, he was the son of the late Arthur “Spud” and Gladys (Perks) Andrews.

Art graduated from Dracut High School, class of 1965, and enlisted in the National Guard of Massachusetts where he was in active duty for six years. In 1975, he married the love of his life, Deborah J. Yarnell, and the two spent many happy years in Townsend, raising their daughter, Holly. Art retired in 2014 from a long career as a Computer Engineer.

His family and grandsons were his life. He enjoyed “fishing” with the boys, (although he spent most of that time untangling poles and baiting hooks) and was always on the sidelines at their various sporting events. In 2017, Art and Deb moved in with their daughter, son-in-law, and grandsons. Family dinners, summer nights on the front porch, campfires with friends and movie marathons with the boys filled the last several years with cherished memories. Never wanting to miss out on an opportunity for fun, Art was looking forward to traveling this summer in his brand-new camper.

Art was a Mason and avid Red Sox fan. He loved golf, cooking, trips to the ocean in both Maine and Florida and a good rum punch. He also shared a passion with his family for visiting Walt Disney World. Art wanted to be involved with any projects around the house. In his recent years, he was affectionately known as the “grounds-keeper”, spending many hours on his riding lawnmower and tending to the vegetable garden at the home in Sterling.

In addition to his parents, Art was predeceased by his loving wife of 46 years, Deborah J. (Yarnell) Andrews. He is survived by his daughter, Holly Iarrobino, and her husband, Ryan of Sterling; three grandchildren, Zachary, Benjamin, and Andrew; and his good friend, Ted Lantagne. He loved and was loved by many members of the extended Yarnell Family.

His big personality and enthusiasm for life will never be forgotten.

At this time, there are no services planned. A Celebration of Life will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Children’s Medical Center at UMASS Memorial Health, 55 N. Lake Avenue, Worcester, MA 01655.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles-Sterling Funeral & Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Rd., Sterling.
