HOLDEN – Dorothy A. (Reed) Gallant, 95, of Worcester, formerly of Rolling Ridge Road, Holden, died Monday, December 10, 2007 in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after an illness.
Her husband of 58 years, Joseph R. Gallant, died in 1995. She leaves her daughter, Beverly A. Armstrong of Rye, NH; two grandchildren, Stephen R. Armstrong of Stratham, NH and Deborah L. Armstrong of Rye, NH; two great-grandchildren, Michael & Ryan; and a niece, Linda Sherwood of Los Angeles, CA. Her sister, Myrtle Sherwood predeceased her. She was born in Oakham, the daughter of Bert S. and Alice (Bullard) Reed, and lived 40 years in Holden before moving to Worcester in 2004.
Mrs. Gallant was a graduate of Hardwick High School and the Springfield Comptometer School. She was an office manager for Springfield Provision Company in Springfield, MA and Rice Barton and Morrow Credit Bureau for 23 years, both in Worcester. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Holden. She was past Worthy Matron and Deputy of the Cradle Rock Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Barre and the Worcester Dance Assembly.
A memorial service for Dorothy will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 15th, in the Warren Chapel, First Congregational Church of Holden, 1180 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will be private in Pine Grove Cemetery, Oakham. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the First Congregational Church of Holden, or to a charity of your choice. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden is directing arrangements.
