Archie M. Horton

December 16, 1918 — June 30, 2004

STERLING - Archie M. Horton, 85, formerly of Sholan Terrace, died Wednesday, June 30, 2004, in the Westridge Healthcare in Marlborough.

His wife of 40 years, Laila T. (Salo) Horton, died in 1988. He is survived by two sons, Paul S. Horton of Sterling and David G. Horton of Worcester; a daughter, Janet S. Horton of Venice, FL; a sister, Mary Vedoe of Westminster; a grandson, Sean Horton; a granddaughter, Angie; and a close friend, Millie Hirst of Sterling. He was born in Shrewsbury, son of George M. and Jennie D. (Moorse) Horton, and raised by Edith Marsh upon Jennie’s death. He served in the Army during WWII. Mr. Horton had worked for Pullman Railroad Cars, Jamesbury Corporation and Iandoli Grocery Stores all in Worcester. He had lived in Worcester and also Lakeland, FL. He was a member of the Whittal Lodge of Masons in Shrewsbury and First Church in Sterling.

The funeral service for Mr. Horton will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 3, in Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 2, in the funeral home. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Mass. Chapter, 36 Cameron Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02140.
