WORCESTER – Phyllis A. (Pearson) Thompson, 91, formerly of Blair St., Worcester, died on Saturday, December 29, 2007, in her daughter’s home in Wellesley after an illness.
Her husband of 50 years, Winthrop A. Thompson, died in 2005. She leaves a daughter, Marsha M. Susmann-Grogan and her husband Robert Grogan of Wellesley; four grandchildren, Austin and Natalie Susmann both of Wellesley and Pamela and Heather Pattiselanno both of Worcester; a sister-in-law, Faith Pearson formerly of Worcester; nephews and nieces. A daughter, Sue-Ellen Thompson Pattiselanno died in 2001. A brother, Paul Pearson, and two sisters, Pheobe A. Pearson and Doris M. Stedman, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Gustaf A. and Agnes M. (Medin) Pearson and lived most her life in Worcester before moving to Wellesley in 2004.
Mrs. Thompson graduated from Commerce High School and worked as a type setter and proof reader at her family’s business, Pearson Linotype Co. in Worcester for many years. She later worked at Mechanics Hall in Worcester for several years. She was a member of United Congregational Church and its Women’s Fellowship. She loved music, knitting, drawing, painting and spending time with her daughter and family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2nd in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A, Holden. The funeral service for Mrs. Thompson will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in All Faith’s Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children Friend’s Society, 21 Cedar Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
