TAUNTON – Antone Soitos, Jr., 89, a lifelong resident, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Notre Dame Health Care Center after an illness.
His wife of 54 years, Dorothy (Tsika) Soitos, passed away in 2002. He leaves his loving daughter, Deborah A. Duchesneau and her husband, James of Sterling; a sister, Eileen Coleho of Naples, FL; two grandchildren, Christopher Duchesneau and his wife Juli of Sterling and Jason Duchesneau and his wife Alyssa of Glastonbury, Ct.; two great-grandchildren, AJ and Abby Duchesneau of Sterling; He was predeceased by a brother, Francis Soitos and a sister, Anna Soitos.
Antone was born in Taunton, the son of Antone Sr. and Mary (Silver) Soitos and enlisted into U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and participated in the battles on Kwajalein Atoll, Guam and Okinawa. After serving his country, he became a heavy duty machine operator and later worked for over twenty-five years at McCabe Sand and Gravel before he retired in 1988. Antone was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed working in his vegetable garden.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday, May 13, 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. in the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Notre Dame du Lac, 557 Plantation Street, Worcester. A private committal service will be held at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
