RUTLAND – Anne C. (Whittier) Montalto, 41, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at UMass Memorial Healthcare – University Campus after a long illness.
She leaves her husband of 14 years, Timothy J. Montalto; a daughter, Abby R. Montalto of Rutland; her three dogs, Mack, Diesel and Sophie; her mother, Carolyn (Casson) Whittier of Leominster; her father, Robert Whittier, Sr. of Princeton; two brothers, Robert Whittier, Jr. of Anchorage, AK and Christopher Whittier and his wife Regina of Ashburnham; three brothers-in-law; P.J. Montalto and his wife Heather of Holden, David Montalto and his wife Amy of Rutland and Joseph Montalto of Reading; two sisters-in-law, Karen Whittier of Princeton and Gina McCullin and her husband Paul of Ashburnham. She also leaves a large extended family, including “grammy” Lillian Montalto and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. A brother, Bruce Whittier, predeceased her.
Anne was born in Clinton and lived in Ashburnham before moving to Rutland four years ago. She graduated from Nashoba Regional High School, attended Quinsigamond Community College and graduated from Mount Wachusett Community College. She worked at the UMass Biotech Park in Worcester for several years. She enjoyed horseback riding, boating and snowmobiling.
Anne’s family would like to thank two special people, Joseph Francis and Michelle Duckas for their loving support and life giving generosity.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A calling hour will be held on Friday, March 23, from 9 to 10 a.m. followed by a funeral procession to Rural Cemetery, 142 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Rutland for a graveside service at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the “Anne Montalto Memorial Fund”, c/o United Bank, 26 West Boylston Street, West Boylston, MA 01583.
