STERLING/WORCESTER – Anne V. (Burke) Gardner, 87, of 216 Beaman Road, Sterling, formerly of 16 Kennebec Street, Worcester, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 30, 2004.
Her husband Robert J. Gardner died in 1989. She leaves four sons, Robert J. Gardner of Florida, James E. Gardner of Sterling, John C. Gardner of New Hampshire, Thomas M. Gardner of San Francisco; a daughter, Nancy J. Gardner of Key West, Florida; two sisters, Margaret Lea of Montpellier, Vermont, and Catherine Heatherman of Johnston, Rhode Island; and three grandchildren, Melissa Anne Gardner of Springfield, Julia Marie Gardner of Sterling, and Jessica Gardner of New Hampshire. She was born and raised in Whitinsville, daughter of James and Margaret (Reilly) Burke, and lived in Worcester over 50 years before moving to Sterling. She graduated Becker College.
Mrs. Gardner was a judicator for the Worcester office of the State Dept. of Employment for nine years, retiring in 1982. She was a founding member of St. Christopher’s Church and was the music director for many years.
The funeral for Mrs. Gardner will be on Thursday, December 2, from the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling, with a Mass for at 10 a.m. in St. Christopher’s Church, 945 West Boylston Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. There are no calling hours.
