SHREWSBURY, MA / LEBANON, NH - Anne-Marie (Roy) Dauphinais, 85, died peacefully at home in her sleep on Monday, June 7, 2021 with her devoted husband of 64 years, Eugene Dauphinais, by her side. She was born in Woodsville, NH, the daughter of Elie O. and Germaine (Lamarre) Roy and grew up in Woodsville, NH along with her 16 brothers and sisters.
Anne-Marie graduated from Woodsville High School and went on to earn her Degree in Nursing from Thompson School of Practical Nursing in Brattleboro, VT. She began her nursing career at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover, NH, where she served patients as an L.P.N. It was while working that Anne-Marie met her one true love, Eugene, who had come to the hospital after being in a car accident. The couple fell in love and went on to share 64 years of marriage and four children.
Eugene and Anne-Marie settled in Lebanon, NH for 62 years until moving to Shrewsbury, MA in 2019. Anne-Marie was a devout member of Sacred Heart Church in Lebanon where she was in the Ladies Auxillary: She was a tireless volunteer for many years at LaSalette Shrine in Enfield, NH, and a Den Mother for numerous Boy Scouts. She also worked as a School Nurse at Lebanon High School for many years, and later at Joann Fabrics where she could surround herself with everything sewing all day. A talented cook, Anne-Marie’s pies and pickled vegetables are prized to this day. After retiring, Anne- Marie enjoyed sewing for her grandchildren, volunteering at the Upper Valley Senior Center in Lebanon, spending time with her children, and doting on her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A life-long caregiver, Anne-Marie always had time to help others and cared for many elderly friends over the years.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene G. Dauphinais; her children, William Dauphinais of Lebanon, NH, Helen Koch and her husband, Barry of TX, Carmen Rickenback (a 20-year United States Air Force Veteran) and her husband, Douglas of NV, and Francis Dauphinais and his wife, Maureen of Holden; five brothers, Bernard of VT and Camille, Philip, Richard and Clement, all of NH; her grandchildren, Colby Dauphinais of OR, Nina Dauphinais of CA, Spencer Koch and Sean Koch of TX, Patrick Merkel of VA, Douglas Rickenback Jr. and Derrick Rickenback of CA, and Katrina Dauphinais and Nathan Dauphinais of MA; her great grandchildren, Alexandra Merkel and Genevieve Merkel; as well as over 70 nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by eight brothers and three sisters.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9th at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 10th at St. Mary's Church, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury, MA. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 11th at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 107 Renihan Meadows, Lebanon, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Upper Valley Senior Center, 10 Campbell St, Lebanon, NH 03766.
