STERLING - Anne L. (Lawlor) Hedstrom, 75, died peacefully on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Clinton Hospital. Born and raised in Boston, the daughter of Richard and Mary (Keane) Lawlor, Anne graduated from Girl's Latin High School in Boston with the class of 1963. Anne graduated from Emmanuel College and went on to earn her Master's in Teaching from Anna Maria College. She married the love of her life, Dr. John G. Hedstrom in 1968 and the couple lived in the Washington, DC area before returning to Massachusetts, living in Newton and Leominster for several years before settling in Sterling in 1979.
Anne was known to many as an extremely caring person that would drop everything to help at a moment's notice to help in any way she could, whether they were her closest friend or someone she just met. She had such a passion for connecting with, and nurturing, the many students she came to know and love throughout her 25 years of teaching, principally at Julie Country Day School in Leominster. Mrs. Hedstrom demanded her students’ very best effort and had such a wonderful ability to individually connect with each one to achieve their potential. Anne also enjoyed tending to her meticulously maintained gardens and exploring many parts of Europe, especially Positano, Italy.
Above all, Anne cherished her family. She was a wonderful mother, welcoming mother-in-law, and spectacularly loving grandmother. Few could be prouder of their children and grandchildren than Anne was of hers.
Anne will be lovingly missed and remembered by her husband of 53 years, Dr. John G. Hedstrom; her sons, John Hedstrom and his wife, Kristen of Bolton, Mark Hedstrom and his wife, Laurie Smith of Santa Monica, CA and Kristian Hedstrom and his wife, Dori Schafer of Upton; her brothers, Ken Lawlor of Quincy, Ted Lawlor and his wife, Julie of Amherst and Richard Lawlor and his wife, Cathy of Shutesbury; her sisters, Barbara LaRussa and her husband, Joseph of Lynnfield and Susan Lawlor and her partner, Mark Palmer; her grandchildren, Hayden, Grant, Alex, Ansel, Liam and Avery; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 10, at the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester, Rd., Sterling. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute
