NORTHBOROUGH/LANCASTER - Brophy, Anne Billingham of Northborough, formerly of Lancaster, succumbed to a series of severe infections on January 17, 2019 at the age of 77. Beloved wife of Charles F. Brophy, with whom she shared a happy life for nearly 50 years. Anne graduated from Mount Saint Joseph's Academy (Brighton, MA) and Regis College (Weston, MA) and in 1967 began a career in the burgeoning computer industry as a technical writer. She was a long time employee of DEC, starting with the company when they were still in the old mill in Maynard. After DEC shut down, Anne continued her career with a variety of companies until her retirement. Anne was preceded in death by her parents, James P. and Bridget (Connors) Billingham and her sister, Mary E. Billingham. She is survived by her brother, James S. Billingham, his wife Nancy and their daughter Amy, as well as her sister Jean V. Billingham, her husband Mark Sutro and Jean's son, Matthew D. Nickens. A memorial service for Anne will be held in the spring. The person who knew her best, Charles, summed up Anne's life perfectly: She was a wonderful woman who never hurt anybody. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home.
