RUTLAND - Anna M. (Darrah) Darrah, 89, of 145 Maple Avenue, died Tuesday, January 25, 2005, in UMASS Memorial Hospital, Worcester.
Her husband of 48 years, David A. Darrah, pre-deceased her. She leaves a son with whom she lived, Alan D. Darrah; a daughter, Phyllis D. Johnson of Hubbardston; a brother, Ralph E. Darrah of Rochester, Vermont; a sister, Alice E. Williams of Randolph, VermontT; three grandchildren, Kim A. Army of Southborough, Phillip A. Martin of Paxton, and Suzanne H. Adamiak of Rutland; a great-granddaughter, Chelsea R. Army; nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by five brothers, Frank F. Darrah, Richard A. Darrah, Arthur F. Darrah, Robert J. Darrah, Stephen H. Darrah, and a sister Marie E. Laffan.
She was born in Randolph, Vermont, the daughter of Allen F. and Dora (Foy) Darrah. She was raised in Rochester and graduated from Rochester High School. She moved to Rutland in 1939 and retired from the Rutland State Hospital where she worked for 20 years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Rutland.
Mrs. Darrah’s funeral will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, January 29, in the First Congregational Church in Rutland, 264 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Rutland. Spring burial will be private in Rural Cemetery, Rutland. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 28, in Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Congregational Church, P.O. Box 484, Rutland, MA 01543; or to the Rural Cemetery, 10 Phillips Road, Rutland, MA 01543.
