HOLDEN – Ann (Matthews) Lundy, 53, of Beechwood Road, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester after an illness.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 31 years, James A. Lundy; her children at home, Katherine, Elizabeth, Jillian and Brian Lundy; her mother, Catherine M. (Sullivan) Matthews of Shrewsbury; two brothers, Edward Matthews, Jr. and his wife Margaret of Groton and Robert Matthews and his wife Sarah of Shrewsbury; three sisters, Katherine and her husband James Vanar of Laguna Hills, CA, Mary Ann and her husband Dr. James Bolger of Princeton and Nancy and her husband Kenneth West of Shrewsbury; and several nephews and nieces.
Ann was born on February 14, 1958 in Kenmore, New York, a daughter of the late Edward J. Matthews, Sr. She graduated from Worcester State College in 1980 and was an underwriter at Hanover Insurance Co. in Worcester for many years. Recently she was a nursery school teacher at Salem Covenant Church in Worcester, leaving in 2010 due to illness.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Jefferson. Ann was a devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister who loved her family.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Her funeral will be held on Friday, January 27, from the funeral home with an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. A committal service will take place in the spring at Grove Cemetery, Holden.
