Biography
WORCESTER – Ann Pearl (Hurwitz) Elkins, 80, died in UMass Memorial Healthcare, on Sunday, July 19th.
She leaves her companion of 30 years, Jack J. Reiff; her three children, Cheryl, wife of William Pigott of Coxsackie, NY, Andrew Elkins and his wife, Tricia of Worcester, and Staci, wife of Darren Landress of Chelmsford; six grandchildren, Nicole, Alex, Jessica, Katie, Rachel, and Ben; and one great-granddaughter, Bella; and her extended family of Evan Reiff, Amy Vogler and Debra Reiff and their children Garnet, Gregory, Nathan, and Jamie. She was predeceased by her husband, Phillip Elkins who died in 1979, her two brothers, Harlan and Bernard Hurwitz, and by a sister, Sybil Findel.
She was a saleswoman for Jay Printing of Warwick, RI and for Dot Packaging of Chicago, IL for 20 years.
She was a member of Temple Emanuel Sinai of Worcester, Congregation Shalom of Chelmsford, Worcester Chapter of Hadassah, and was an active volunteer for the Jewish Healthcare Center and Hope Lodge for Cancer Care. She was a Past President of ORT. She was a member and volunteer at the Worcester Art Mueseum.
She was born in Worcester and was a daughter of Nathan and Rose (Cotton) Hurwitz and was a lifelong resident.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 9:30AM ON THURSDAY JULY 23RD IN TEMPLE EMANUEL SINAI, 661 SALISBURY STREET, UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN. Burial will be in B’Nai Brith Cemetery.
Memorial Observance will be held through 3PM on Thursday, July 23rd at Temple Emanuel Sinai, 661 Salisbury Street and will continue from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 23rd at her residence at 403 Browning Lane, of Salisbury Green, 796 Salisbury Street, Worcester. Minyan services will be held at 7:30PM on Thursday at the family residence.
