Andrew Gustaf Johnson

BARRE – Andrew “Andy” G. Johnson, Jr., 62, of Williamsville Rd., Barre, died peacefully in the presence of his loving family on Saturday, September 7, 2013, after an illness. Born in Holden on March 17, 1951, Andy was the son of Andrew G. Johnson, Sr. and Ruth V. (Pitman) Johnson and lived in Holden until moving to Barre in 1977.



Andy was a 1969 graduate of Wachusett Regional High School and worked 35 years at Norton Co. in Worcester and St. Gobain in Northborough, retiring as a research and development engineer in 2012. He was an avid outdoorsman and found solace with nature. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Andy will be remembered by his family and friends for his kind and patient nature.



Besides his mother, Andy is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kathleen (Jones) Johnson; a daughter, Jennifer L. Lipke and her husband, Nathan of Denver, CO; a son, Erik A. Johnson and his wife, Kristen (Barnes) of Barre; a brother, James Johnson of Walpole, NH; a sister, Donna Eckert of Morrisville, VT; three cherished grandchildren, Cameron, Mackenna, and Lucas; many cousins, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. His father, Andrew G. Johnson, Sr. passed away last year.



Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 13, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A memorial service honoring Andy’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Memorial Contributions, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
