Biography
WORCESTER - Andreko Gjylapi, 78, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Korce, Albania, a son of the late Ilo and Afroviti (Gjylameti) Gjylapi and came to Worcester in 2006. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ninella (Beba) Gjylapi; four sons, Mirgen and Andi Gjylapi of Worcester, and Genci and Altin Gjylapi of Italy; and a daughter, Monika Gjylapi of Worcester, and a grandson. Two brothers and two sisters predeceased him. Andreko graduated from high school and was an airline pilot for many years having received his training in Russia. His pride and joy was spending time with his family. Family and friends are invited to join with the Andreko’s Family for visiting hours on Wednesday, January 18th from 9:30-11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury Street, Worcester, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Fr. Timothy Lowe officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Andreko’s name may be made to St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church Endowment Fund, 535 Salisbury Street, Worcester 01609.
