West Boylston - Amideo “Ama” Leo, of Pierce Street, died peacefully on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Beaumont at Worcester, following a brief period of declining health. He was 89.
Amideo was born in Worcester, a son of late Cosimo and Caterina (Pisaro) Leo. He has lived in West Boylston for the past 57 years. Amideo was a proud veteran of World War II, serving with the US Navy in the European theater. Prior to his retirement in 1985, Amideo worked as a maintenance supervisor for Framingham State University for 20 years. He loved to garden, enjoyed fishing, especially along the Cape Cod Canal, and was a member of the Greendale Retired Men’s Club. Amideo was a talented repairman, specializing in clocks and locks, as well as repairing and restoring furniture. His beloved wife, Adele (Sanda) Leo died in 1997. He was also predeceased by his brother, Emanuel, and his two sisters, Cosima Franchi and Antoinette Pavone. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the Mount Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salmon Hospice Care, 42 Beaumont Dr, Northbridge, MA 01534. Arrangements are under the care of the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
