RUTLAND — Eleanore A. (Massey) (Davis) Elgh, 90, of Maple Avenue, died Wednesday, December 3, 2008, in Saint Vincent Hospital after an illness. She was the wife of Ralph Elgh, to whom she was married for 63 years. In addition to her husband, she leaves her daughter, Carlenne Brown and her husband James of Holden; a son, Carl G. Elgh of Millbury and Rhode Island; and a granddaughter, Jennifer (Brown) Manning of Worcester. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Alfred and Annie (Mulrain) Massey. She was predeceased by her stepfather, Martin Davis.
Eleanore graduated from Holden District Hospital School of Nursing, where she worked as a RN and private duty nurse for 21 years. Later she transferred to Worcester County Hospital, where she worked for an additional 21 years as a nurse, occupational therapist, and the director of activities before retiring in 1981. She was a lover of animals, enjoyed ceramics and loved camping in Rindge, N.H.
A private graveside service will be held at Rural Cemetery, Rutland, at the convenience of the family. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden is assisting the family with arrangements.
