Alvin R. Anderson

PAXTON – Alvin R. Anderson, 80, of 23 Cutler Road, died Friday, October 1, 2004, in Holden Nursing Home after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 47 years, Anne M. (Bergman) Anderson; a son, Leonard T. Anderson and his wife Linda of Holden; a daughter, Erika L. Nelson and her husband David of New Durham, New Hampshire; a brother, Herbert Anderson of Southbridge; two sisters, Gurlie Anderson and Marion Schonbeck both of Worcester; three grandchildren, Katie Nelson of New Durham, New Hampshire, Joshua and Julia Anderson both of Holden; and nephews and nieces. He was born in Charlton, son of Axel and Anny (Backman) Anderson, and later lived in Worcester and 39 years in Paxton. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the Asiatic-Pacific theater.

Mr. Anderson was an architectural designer for Boyce Architects in Holden for over 20 years. Previously, he worked for Briggs Associates and Barrett and Company both in Worcester. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade High School. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Worcester and the American Institute of Architects. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing.

The funeral service for Mr. Anderson will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 5, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery, 7 Island Road, Worcester. A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 5, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church, 200 Greenwood Street, Worcester, MA 01607.
